LGBT+ and gay-friendly nights out in Valencia: bars, restaurants, associations, the guide

LGBT+ and gay-friendly nights out in Valencia: bars, restaurants, associations, the guide

You already know, from our guide to the scene, that Valencia's queer nightlife has moved from El Carmen to Russafa. Here now is the practical how-to: where to have a drink, where to eat, where to dance and, above all, where to meet the community, from early-evening drinks to sports clubs. Every address was checked this summer.

Drinks and bars

In Russafa, start with the Pub Templo: small, buzzing, with drag shows that fill the room on Sunday nights. Two streets away, La Boba y el Gato Rancio cultivates the alternative queer spirit, and the COMIC café takes over during the day. For a cocktail in kitsch-baroque surroundings, La Bella de Cádiz (calle Cádiz 54) serves well-known mojitos from Wednesday to Friday evening.

In El Carmen, the Trapezzio remains the go-to café-bar, with its big terrace on the plaça del Músic López Chávarri, perfect early in the evening. The Café-Pub La Seu (Santo Cáliz 7) and the ever-reliable Café de las Horas, baroque and theatrical a step from the plaza de la Virgen, complete the historic-centre circuit.

Dancing

The community's big dance floor is Deseo 54, in Marxalenes: two floors, in-house drag shows and a line-up running from house to reggaeton, Fridays and Saturdays until 7.30am. The Piccadilly Downtown Club, gay-friendly and thoroughly mixed, has made its three-channel silent discos a fixture of the centre. And the Oven Club, redesigned in 2025, is the safe bet on electro nights, gay-friendly and discerning.

At the table

Two dinner-shows carry the Valencian cabaret tradition high: Pekado, in El Carmen, and the Barbarela, where a drag show accompanies the meal. For dinner without the glitter but in complete ease, let us state the Valencian obvious: in the centre and in Russafa, almost every table is welcoming, and the addresses on our Eat & drink page apply without an asterisk. A special mention for Mestizo, our favourite, pet-friendly and open to every world.

Daytime: beach and voguing

In summer, the community gathers at the Arbre del Gos, the historic naturist and gay beach between Pinedo and El Saler: 2.5 kilometres of dune-backed sand, reachable in half an hour on the number 25 bus. And if you would rather dance by day, Valencia's ballroom scene holds its kiki balls and practices, notably at the Espai La Granja: open to the curious, beginners welcome.

The associations, so you are never on your own

Lambda (avenue Primer de Maig 55) is the mother house: youth, trans, family and senior groups, cultural activities and drop-in hours. It is the simplest way to meet people when you arrive.

On the sports side, Samarucs is Valencia's historic LGTB+ club, founded in 2003: more than 200 members, 11 sections (from volleyball to hiking to swimming), a proudly inclusive ethos and a driving role in organising the 2026 Gay Games. Signing up when the season starts in September is probably the best social passport in the city.

Finally, keep an eye on Loving Diversity VLC, the city's queer cultural listings, and on the roving-party collectives that announce themselves mainly on Instagram. For any question or rough patch, the 028 line, free and available in English, answers 24/7, and our guide to your rights lists every remedy.

The editor's plan

An ideal first weekend? Friday: drinks at the Trapezzio, dinner-show at Pekado, night at Deseo 54. Saturday: beach at the Arbre del Gos, ice cream at Véneta, silent disco at the Piccadilly. Sunday: almuerzo in Russafa and a drag show at the Templo to finish in style. Welcome to Valencia.
